It depends on the service you're accessing. Some physicians and specialists require a referral from your family physician or another healthcare provider, while many allied health services, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, counselling, and kinesiology, can often be accessed directly.

As we prepare to open, we'll provide more information about referrals and how to access each service.

Avalon Health is a physician-led interdisciplinary clinic offering a combination of publicly funded and privately funded healthcare services.

Medical services provided by family physicians and specialists are covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) for eligible patients.

Many allied health services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, kinesiology, counselling, psychology, speech-language pathology, and massage therapy, are privately billed. These services may be covered in full or in part through your extended health benefits, depending on your individual insurance plan.

Avalon Health is bringing together family physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals under one roof to provide coordinated, patient-centred care.

Our team is being built to include family medicine, specialist care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, kinesiology, counselling, psychology, speech-language pathology, massage therapy, and additional healthcare services as our clinic grows.

We'll continue to share updates as our team expands and we prepare to welcome patients in Fall 2026.
