Speech-Language Pathologist

Communication, cognitive, swallowing, and neuro recovery pathways · Independent contractor · Phased start, Q3 2026 


Avalon Health Clinic, a new multidisciplinary clinic planned for Greater Victoria, BC, is seeking founding Speech-Language Pathologists to help support communication, cognition, and functional recovery within our integrated primary care and rehabilitation clinic.


This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a setting where neurological recovery, cognitive health, communication, and interdisciplinary care are fully connected within the patient journey.


At Avalon, Speech-Language Pathology will play an important role across our brain injury, concussion, ICU recovery, and complex rehabilitation pathways, while also supporting broader primary care populations.


You will work alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, counsellors, kinesiologists, and other allied health professionals within one coordinated care environment.


WHAT THIS ROLE IS


  • Provide Speech-Language Pathology assessment and intervention across communication, cognition, swallowing, and functional recovery pathways
  • Support patients navigating concussion, brain injury, neurological conditions, ICU recovery, post-surgical recovery, and complex medical presentations
  • Assess and support cognitive-communication challenges including attention, memory, executive functioning, processing, and return-to-work or return-to-school goals
  • Collaborate closely with family physicians, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, counsellors, and other clinicians on shared patient care
  • Participate in Avalon’s specialty recovery pathways where communication and cognitive recovery are essential components of rehabilitation
  • Help shape the Speech-Language Pathology model within a growing interdisciplinary clinic
  • ·ontribute to a patient experience that feels coordinated, practical, compassionate, and supportive 


WHO YOU ARE


You are a Speech-Language Pathologist who values functional outcomes, thoughtful rehabilitation, and whole-person care.


You enjoy helping patients navigate real-life communication and cognitive challenges while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. You are comfortable with complexity, value evidence-informed care, and appreciate both autonomy and collaboration.


You may be especially drawn to neurorehabilitation, concussion care, cognitive-communication recovery, swallowing disorders, or helping build something meaningful from the ground up.


WHAT YOU BRING


  • Registration in good standing with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Professional liability insurance through Speech-Language & Audiology Canada or equivalent
  • Clinical experience or interest in one or more of: neurorehabilitation, concussion care, cognitive-communication disorders, swallowing disorders, ICU recovery, neurological rehabilitation, or functional recovery populations
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working within interdisciplinary teams
  • A builder mindset and excitement about helping shape a new clinic model 


HOW WE WORK


  • Compensation: Competitive independent contractor revenue-share model with earning growth tied to caseload development, experience, specialty expertise, and sustained demand
  • Transparent compensation pathways discussed during the interview process
  • Opportunity to build a strong caseload through direct internal referrals from rehabilitation, primary care, physician, and recovery pathways
  • Full clinic infrastructure provided including reception, scheduling, EMR, billing support, treatment space, and administrative systems
  • Shared charting and integrated communication with primary care and allied health teams
  • Flexible scheduling options
  • Location: 4400 Chatterton Way, Saanich (Greater Victoria, BC)
  • Start: Phased onboarding through Q3 2026. Clinic opens late 2026

Alongside our primary care practice, Avalon includes three specialty recovery pathways:

  • Brain injury and concussion recovery
  • Surgical pre- and post-operative care
  • ICU recovery, including the first outpatient post-intensive care clinic on Vancouver Island
